Product Class #
A Product Class is a grouping of certain design products at a certain point in time, this is important as it allows us to monitor the following:
- If you created a design in the past, we can monitor how this design has changed since for a support and audit point of view
- Allow you to understand the group products revision history and any improvements may have happened since you design was issued
- Full audit capabilities so that industry standards can be maintained
The Product Class has a version number which is incremented at given internals to allow us to improve existing designs or add new ones.
Version Control #
This version number is based on a primary and secondary system. Primary revisions are a numerical number starting from 1, these indicate a major change has occurred in the Product Class. This is normally when new designs are added to the configurator.
A secondary version number is added when a minor change has happened, this could be a small change to the design which does not affect the geometry or behaviour of how the design is controlled in the configurator.
